Something new...

Alright well for the past few months we have been being worked beyond what one would expect to be worked over here. There have been many occasions where I was a walking (or sitting if in the truck) zombie, due to sleep deprevation and to loss of food intake. It had been taking a toll on us, and even the guys that had come here on the first Iraq deployment, said the schedule now is far worse than what they had back in the earlier days of the war. How is that possible? Especially now when we are SURGING troops into Baghdad and Iraq. Shouldn't that help lighten the load we have to carry?!?

Damn dude. Sorry to hear that. That is bullshit. I hope they realise what they're doing and change it up for you in a way that would help.

YOU KNOW,DEAR SOLDIER, I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING. GET A PLANE AND CARRY ALL THOSE SEAT WARMING B***T*RDS TO THE WAR ZONE AND LET A FEW MORTARS FLY OVER THEIR EARS. MAYBE THINGS WOULD GO BETTER FOR OUR SOLDIERS THAT ARE SACRIFICING EVERYTHING TO KEEP THOSE EVIL DEVILS OUT OF OUR COUNTRY!

MY PRAYERS AREWITH YOU ALL DAILY! TRUST IN GOD.

AND FOR THOSE BUDDIES LOST REMEMBER: 'TO BE ABSENT FROM THE BODY IS TO BE PRESENT WITH THE LORD'!

LOVE, FROM A 71 YR OLD GREAT GRANNY IN TEXAS!

thought you might like to see what CNN was saying about the survey. When I first heard about the survey through the media, I thought duh! yeah! You're getting shot at, your comrade gets blown up, you better not have "the best of attitudes" -- you better be mad, stick to your training, and take care of business.

I also thought what the results of such a survey in the middle of a bar room fight might be like. Gah!!!

I would up your suggestions of bringing ????? out where you are. Bring them out there without your training and see what happens.

And still you go on. God bless you and all those you consider your family, because that's all I have to offer you. The thanks from a bit younger (55)granny from Texas.

Okay I feel better now. Know you are on my heart, and in my prayers.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The latest Pentagon survey assessing the mental health of troops in Iraq found one-third of soldiers and Marines in high levels of combat report anxiety, depression and acute stress.

The survey also dealt with ethical attitudes on the battlefield ...

When mistreatment of noncombatants was reported, the most common behavior was cursing or verbal insults (28 percent of soldiers and 30 percent of Marines). Physical abuse was reported by 4 percent of soldiers and 7 percent of Marines.

The survey found the death of a team member led to an increase in ethics violations.

Soldiers who deployed more than six months or multiple times were more likely to screen positive for a mental health issue, the survey found. ..."

I read that CNN thing too, and remembered you. I think I told you this already, but I do hope that this will all lead to shorter deployments and you guys can come home already. Just ask Randy, I'm getting old and I want babies dammit!!! LOL. Stay safe bro!
