Going out with a BANG! or 2 or three...

Alright well the title of this blog is in reference to yesterday, a sad day for myself and all the guys that I work with.

[Removed for screening]

War is seemingly and absolute boredom, filled with fleeting moments of sheer terror and excitment.

I have to say that I am doing a project for my college English class and that is how I came across your blog.

I do not agree with the war and I find some of your posts to be a little unsettling, but despite that, thanks for doing your job and thanks for keeping people updated.

I don't think many people have commented, so I just figured I would let you know that at least one person is reading.

Keep it up...interesting stuff.

I remember being bored much of the time as a civilian contractor. All the sitting in the staging lanes waiting. Waiting for escorts, waiting for the roads to clear, waiting for the gates to open up, just waiting, waiting, and more waiting. All the excitement was in rolling through Baghdad and Fallujah. I can't say that as an unarmed civilian I liked being shot at, but the adrenaline rush of the possibility was way cool. I understand a little of what you are feeling. But like my family told me many times, we are happy that you had a boring day. It give you a better chance of coming home live.

Be safe, and watch your six!

Sir,
Your experiences have further inspired me to continue towards my goal of being an 82nd Airborne Infantryman. Thank you for your service.

I'm definitely going to quote 'White Rose' in saying that I'm happy that you had a boring day-- It gives you a better chance of coming home alive.
